Frozen Shoulder
Supraspinatus
Frozen shoulder is caused by spasm of the supraspinatus muscle. There are other forms of shoulder pain caused by different muscles, but a frozen shoulder is when, with the thumb turned down, one can't freely raise the arm into abduction at all, or without pain and weakness. There are several ligaments and tendons that could have a second degree tear or worse and require surgery to repair. The majority of cases are caused by a first degree strain and spasm of the supraspinatus muscle - which can be released with the Releasology protocol for the supraspinatus muscle. To receive a treatment for this or learn how to perform this non-invasive technique yourself, click the buttons on this page.
To learn the releasology for this topic, take our online class. On this page, we have provided the technique video and worksheet links for this class, but for the full experience, please take the class. This class will walk you through learning the anatomy and techniques you will need to be able to address this topic effectively, as follows:

-
After completing your drawing compare your drawing to our illustration of this muscle to learn how your drawing could be even more precise.
After 3 attempts, one is likely to never forget where this muscle is. After this stage, one is ready for palpation of this muscle and then to attempt the releasology techniques shown in the video. Go ahead and download this pdf to get started and then watch the video to learn the Releasology techniques.
When you sign up for class, a student profile will be created for you. After completing each step of the class, click the checkboxes.
